The new express lane system is being tested on the Powhite today, 10:30-2ish. No word whether any lane closures or delays are expected, but be forewarned…

The RMA claims that these new lanes will solve that very dangerous situation that currently exists where folks with Smart Tags have to cross five lanes of traffic if they wish to visit that Ukrops at Forest Hill Ave., or else travel another 5.6 miles (yes, I clocked it) to loop around.
Their theory is that most users of this toll road will not be paying cash, therefore the exact change lanes will be largely empty.
We’ll soon see, but Ihave my doubts.
