Oops, Part 3

After seeing a car go into the FasMart and a vehicle rollover in the Shoe Warehouse lot, the Westover Hills/Clarence/Dunston parking lot curse reared its head again today in the form of a car hitting the exterior of the Family Dollar store. Store damage was noticeable, but apparently not structural.

When are the police going to crack down on speeding on Forest Hill and Westover Hills Blvd? I see the cop car parked uselessly in various parking lots, but vacant cop cars aren’t handing out speeding tickets. I think we need to press the city to put up those $200 fine signs like they’ve got on Cherokee Rd. Who do I hassle about that??

There is a city ordinance defining the process. It involves lots of community involvement and support.

In addition to speeding, a lot of the issue (I’ve seen) are people cutting through the neighborhoods and running stop/yield signs (At Clarence and Ready respectively)

It’s too bad the car wasn’t a crane with a wrecking ball. I don’t think those two businesses are doing much to enhance the neighborhood.
People hall a** on WHB between Midlothian Tnpk and Forest Hill - I dread having to cross it on foot. It’s scary enough in a car. I’d really like to see a couple of motorcycle cops sitting at 46th/47th and Dunston/Reedy for a few rush hours.

    I meant “haul,” obviously. Durrrr.

What was up with the unoperational mobile “35 MPH Speed Limit” Police sign that was up in front of FHP this week? It is supposed to show what your speed is but it was never plugged up. What’s the deal with that? Lame.

Well, there was definitely a police presence on Forest Hill this past week where it drops to 25 MPH around WHB. On Thursday afternoon around 3 or 4, I saw 3 different cars stopped by motorcycle police. Then on Friday around the same time, I saw 2 more.

Don’t know if people have been complaining or what, but enforcement was increased at least for a few days last week.

As for the police radar sign that was in front of the park, Friday morning I saw an officer parked in front of it, presumably getting ready to haul it away.

Good. If they find out that they can get plenty of speeders, they’ll be back.

So David, who do we give our community support to? Our council person?

I believe the speed “trailer” was one that only indicates a vehicle’s speed when it exceeds the speed limit by a set amount. I have seen the type that flashes your speed if you are traveling 5 or 10 mph over the limit but does not indicate your speed otherwise, to save the batteries.
