The RMA Loves You

Really they do. So on the heels of the Powhite ramp closure, which has made drive-time trips through the interchange area resemble a suburban take on The Road Warrior, the RMA hopes you’ll still love them now that they’re raising tolls. In September, tolls at the Powhite Pkwy and Downtown Expressway main plazas will increase to 70 cents. The RMA has suggested ramp prices will increase, but hasn’t provided any details, nor have they mentioned increases at the Boulevard Bridge.

Gas prices rising, toll plaza increases…too bad I can’t take a GRTC bus to Carytown without going downtown first. But that’s another story…

I read another report that the Boulevard Bridge AKA “Nickel Bridge” would be increasing to 40c. Guess I’ll be taking the Lee and Huguenot instead.

All the more reason to go by bike. If only RMA would use some of its toll proceeds to build us some bike lanes…

I’m sure we all thinking the same thing here, but I have to see vent: this raise in “taxes” is ridiculous! Imagine if some other taxes increased by 40-80%! There’d be riots!!

Email the RMA and tell them what you think:

Perhaps I’m driving past it at odd hours, but that closed ramp seems to be less than a beehive of activity. What exactly are they doing to it? Out of the last ten times I’ve driven past, I’ve noticed trucks and workers there only once.

I’ve noticed the same thing, Hef. It’s almost like RMA is just stringing this out to see how long it will take before one of the illegal u-turns on Forest Hill turns into a fatal wreck.
