Rude Awakening

Nothing says “Good Morning!” like the sight of a fire truck, several police cars and a man collapsed on the ground right outside your window at 7AM on a Saturday. What at first appeared to be the after math of a shooting or stabbing turned out not to be. Apparently a very intoxicated individual ran into asign at the railroad crossing, then fled on foot, and made it 1.5 blocks before running out of steam.

Tell me more? I can see the RR crossing from my front door, and I think I totally slept through this!

That’s about all I know, based on what a cop and a bystander said. I didn’t hear the crash portion, but I did notice the railroad crews out working yesterday. The driver ran on foot up Jahnke, then turned on Clarence and made it as far as Clarence & Hilltop, where he ended up sprawled in my neighbor’s yard. Apparently someone driving by saw him lying there and called 911. Police were already at the crash site and 3 or 4 cars arrived at the same time as the fire dept. Not what I was looking forward to early Saturday morning.

Is there a serial Drunk Driver in the neighborhood? My house was inches from being hit in July and two or three cars on my street have been hit in the recent weeks (49th St).
