School Accreditation Status
Public School accreditation numbers are out and it’s a mixed bag for neighborhood schools. Middle Schools across the state seem to be struggling; locally, none of our neighborhood middle schools are fully accredited (only 2 city-wide received full accreditation). Elementary and High School numbers look much better.

It is long overdue, that the Richmond City Public Schools worked on accreditation. Much has improved and we thank the students, teachers and school board. But as we all know, the out of control truancy problem needs more attention. While I salute Mayor Wilder, for cracking down on school truancy, more needs to be done. Especially here in southside. I’m still seeing way to many young kids running the streets during school hours. And you can’t receive a good education, when you skip classes and hang out on corners spraying graffiti or tossing rocks at cars! Especially on Semmes.
