Booming Beverage Business

The folks at Urban Richmond and VCU’s Commonwealth Times let us know that our own Crossroads Coffee & Ice Cream is taking over the World Cup Coffee space on Morris Street, near VCU. Here’s hoping they hang tough against the Big Green Monster.

On the other end of the beverage spectrum, Bellevue’s favorite Beer & Wine shop, Once Upon A Vine, is soon to open a 2nd store in the Shops At Stratford Hills, in the vicinity of Rock Falls Tavern. The Bellevue store’s selection has been known to attract beer fans from out state and the summer movie nights they host have been a big hit with neighborhood residents. Their expansion to Stratford Hills will be a very welcome addition!

Dude, way to make an awesome website. I hope the neighbors’ll use it. I wish will & Olivia the best at the Morris St location. I don’t know why that location seems to be an indian burial ground for coffee shops, but hopefully they can make it work. Also, it’ll be nice to have a place in the hood with good beer selection: I end up at the 48 Hours a lot, but their prices leave a lot to be desired. As does the ambience. However I like the new wine section they’ve added to the porno aisle!!

The “Big Green Monster” has an Achilles heal… People that like good coffee and a community atmosphere. A BGM could open right next door to Crossroads or a World Cup and everything would be just fine. The problem with the other coffee shop on Robinson St (Wired) was they didn’t have those two things. The BGM came in 2 blocks away and destroyed them. I wish Will and Olivia all the best, I know they will do just fine there.

Yeah Hills and Heights - first time reader here. Former Northsider/One year SouthSider and lovin’ it. I’m looking forward to having Once Upon A Vine II on our side of the river! Those guys are AWESOME! Bring on wine tastings…

No doubt– Crossroads has the best coffee and tea in the city and Will and Jeff are the best Baristas in R-town. When it comes down to the nitty- gritty on coffee and service the ‘BGM’ can’t hold a candle to Will and all the people at Crossroads. I would have to sit back and laugh at the empty parking lot at the BGM if one were to decide to take them on.
    -you guys rock.
